Just starting out
We'll work on reading music, rhythm and a comfortable technique, with pieces they actually enjoy playing. ABRSM or Trinity exams are an option when they're ready.
Hi, I'm
I'm a pianist, and I teach piano from my home in Woking.
I trained in classical piano, but I don't think every lesson has to be about grade exams. We can work on Chopin, learn the chords to a pop song, or figure out how to accompany your own singing.
Lessons
Tell me what you want to play, what you've learnt so far, and how much time you have to practise. I'll plan lessons around that. If you want to work towards grades, we can do that too.

Coming back to the piano
Played years ago and thinking of starting again? We'll pick up from where you are and find music you want to play. I've come back to serious practice alongside a full-time job, so I know fitting it in can be tricky.
Songs, chords and playing along
Want to play a song you love, read a chord chart, or sing while you play? We can work on those things, with classical pieces in the mix if you like.
Lessons are on my Yamaha acoustic piano at home.Weekday evenings and weekends, in Woking, Surrey.
A little extra
I've made a couple of little tools for practising at home. Have a play around, even if you're not taking lessons with me.
Play around with chords on a keyboard, hear them, and try a few progressions.

About
I grew up with classical piano, took my ABRSM grades and a Trinity performance diploma, and later worked as an accompanist for the Hong Kong singer-songwriter Serrini.
I came back to serious practice while working full-time. In 2026, I gave myself 28 days to prepare Chopin's Polonaise Op. 53 and perform it from memory in public. The performance wasn't perfect, but I did it.
I care about good technique, but I also think playing the piano is worth doing for its own sake. You don't need an exam coming up to enjoy it.
Right now I'm working towards my LTCL diploma, and sharing the journey on YouTube.

You'll need something to practise on between lessons. A full-size digital piano with weighted keys is fine to start with. If you're not sure what to get, I'm happy to help.
Yes. When they're ready, I can prepare them for ABRSM or Trinity graded exams. Exams are always optional.
English or Cantonese (廣東話), whichever is more comfortable for the student.
Of course. You'll find my playing on YouTube, and I'm happy to share a video of my work as an accompanist on request.
